The New York collective Balkan Beat Box centres itself around Tamir Muskat and Ori Kaplan, two highly active musicians in the New York underground scene. They are known as much as for their drum and percussive performances as for their saxophone performances, playing in groups like Firewater, Gogol Bordello, Big Lazy and Shot'nex. Balkan Beat Box create explosive ideas, convceived from Balkan music and underpinned by hip-hop beats, video projections and frenetic dancing.
