British DJ Kissy Sell Out started his DJing career with his mum's John Martyn and Cat Stevens records, getting turned on to dance music after an introduction to DJ Hype. Gaining notoriety through mixes for groups such as Simian Mobile Disco and Headman, he worked his way to playing nights in London and Ibiza. He was signed up for a monthly slot on Radio 1 in 2007, but after realising that it was making music and not just spinning records that he wanted to do, he created the record Youth, with anecdotes about his adolescence in Essex over electro pop melodies and tortured instrumentals.
