Formed in 1993, La Ruda (formerly known as Ruda Salska) immediately made their mark on the world of ska by means of their exciting live shows, quickly taking on the role of the French representatives of uplifting, engaging ska-rock. After a turn further towards rock in 2004, they dropped the reductive suffix Salska to embrace a new sound which is to be heard on the 2007 release Les Bonnes Manières, an album of acoustic versions, and on their ninth and latest album Grand Soir, released in 2009.
