MLCD (My Little Cheap Dictaphone) have been around for a while, steadily forging a reputation as one of the mainstays of the productive Belgian indie scene, particularly the collective JauneOrange, who released their two first albums Music Drama (2002) and Small Town Boy (2006), gaining them tours with reputable bands such as Chokebore, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Nada Surf. Their new album The Tragic Tale Of A Genius is dramatic and dark, with principal songwriter Redboy introducing a chamber-pop element to their indie songs. The storytelling and operatic composition show an ingenuity that has forced those who thought they'd gone away to think again.
