The Belgian Xavier Gazon, alias Playboy's Bend, makes his music using old electronic children's toys that he buys at jumble sales, forging loops, beats and eventually, songs from them. Inspired after an evening course in electronics, he disassembes and reassembles his instruments in what he describes as 'circuit bending', created essentially by making short circuits in the elements that create the sounds inside the instruments. This he describes as more of an artistic than a purely musical movement. With a first album Loveboys using this method of musical recycling, he made danceable, chip-music tunes that have marked him out as a unique artistic talent.
